The Division of Developmental Disabilities is pleased to announce The Community Summit...Let's Get Connected to be held June 19-21, 2013 at Central Washington University in Ellensburg, Washington. The Summit will bring together individuals committed to building inclusive communities that are rich with people participating as neighbors, co-workers, and citizens. People with developmental disabilities and their families and friends, staff that provide residential, employment, educational and personal supports, state and county staff, and local activists and leaders are all welcome. The vision is for people to come together to listen, present ideas and learn from each other about how to build and participate in inclusive communities that enrich everyone.

Building Strong Communities
This area of the summit focuses both on personal introspection and active outreach to others to form new community partnerships. More...

Presentations and conversations will focus on team-building, creativity, mediation, and problem-solving. More...

Presentations in this area will highlight best practices in accommodations and communication, promotion of technology as a natural support, and explore its potential role in our lives, especially for our younger generations. More...

See what is planned for Wednesday the 19th and register for Pre-Conference sessions. Please be aware that, if you are arriving in Ellensburg on the 18th, you will need to make separate accommodation arrangements. There is no lodging on Campus the night of the 18th.
Clock hours will be available at the Summit, please check back for specific opportunities.

We are pleased to announce a limited number of Community Summit Stipends, provided by The Developmental Disabilities Administration and the State of Washington Arc.
To qualify for a Community Summit Stipend, you should belong to one of the following groups:
1. An individual with a disability and/or a support person to an individual who is attending (family member, residential staff, friend, employment provider).
2. A residential staff person working for an agency that supports 16 or fewer individuals.
Please Note: Stipends will be awarded on a first come first served basis.
Additionally, stipends have been allocated by most individual D.D. County Coordinators, please check with your local representative for further information. A contact list for your County may be found HERE. WISE does not have the authority to approve stipends. Thank You!
The Community Center:
Come join us for some community connecting information and activities! Several statewide exhibitors will be providing useful community information and Resource Connectors will be available to assist you in defining and finding new fun connections in your community! The Community Center will be located in one section of the Grand Ballroom.
