The Fundamental Series:
PBS 101: Introduction to Positive Behavior Supports and Individualized Services with Shaun Wood
We believe there is a place for everyone in the community and everyone in service deserves positive and empowering services that help them reach their goals. What happens when behavior gets in the way? This web-based training series will provide the basics of positive behavior supports as they can be applied to a variety of adult disability services. For this first session, we will cover a broad overview of positive behavior supports in community-based settings. Participants will have the opportunity to ask for feedback on specific situations and everyone will leave with new ideas to create more inclusive communities.
Learning Objectives (Info, tools, and skills attendees will receive):
- Learners will understand the historical and current day considerations to using positive behavior supports
- Learners will start to identify support needs in categories such as communication needs, choice making needs, predictability and understanding needs and others
- Learners will get information for how to navigate the PBS series to get the most benefit from it.
