Wise Webinar A Day Series: Promoting Self-Determination Through Google Classroom and Transition Portfolios Part 1

Please join us on Monday, April 27th for our webinar, Promoting Self-Determination Through Google Classroom and Transition Portfolios Part 1″ with Barb Blakeslee Beck.

(Part 1) Connecting with young adults to establish communication and provide needed supports through digital means during a “Remote Learning Season” can be quite challenging.   How can practitioners engage with students and job seekers during this time? This webinar will provide information and materials needed to begin a transition portfolio and support individuals with disabilities in communicating preferences and support steps toward self-determination.  Attendees will be provided with practical tools to use within Google Classroom as a primary means of information delivery in a remote learning environment.  Join Barb Blakeslee Beck in exploring some of the critical keys to her students’ success in developing their own path toward self-advocacy and meaningful employment.

Learning Objectives (Info, tools, and skills attendees will receive):

  • Gain a clearer understanding of supporting communication styles and preferences
  • Gain an understanding of how to infuse new tools with Google Classroom’s framework in transition planning and community-based instruction
  • Attendees will be provided free tools from Barb’s book My Transition Portfolio

Barb Blakeslee Beck

Barb Blakeslee Beck has been teaching special education for 25 years with an emphasis in adult transition services for students ages 18-21.  Her degrees in Speech/Language Pathology and Special Education have enabled her to engage students and their families in providing positive post-school outcomes. My Transition Portfolio is her response to answering some of the important questions raised when trying to bridge the gap from research to practitioner. It provides a great process in transferring person-centered information between secondary schools and adult service agencies.  Barb’s efforts both within and outside the classroom are continually focused on finding new ways for students to be known, heard, and celebrated for their unique contributions to their communities.
