Genevieve Akoury is a freshman at Seattle Pacific University majoring in special education. She’s from Simi valley California but recently moved to Seattle and has been here for about 4 months. After graduation from college, she wants to become a special education teacher and eventually open up her own school for students who have learning disabilities as well as autism spectrum disorder (ASD). What interested her about the work-study position was that she is passionate about advocating for others as well as helping people with disabilities get the respect and rights that they deserve. She is passionate about helping people with disabilities because she has learning disabilities and autism spectrum disorder and knows what it feels like to fight against discrimination. Some of her passions and hobbies are running and hanging out with family and friends.
